About the Designer Series
These cases aren't for everyone. But that's kind of the point.
See, the economics of building products for the mass market means that often a company needs to design to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Which means that sometimes, design looks that are different – a little bit off the beaten path – don't get the attention they deserve. Until now.
Griffin Designer Series cases present new looks and designs from artists whose work we admire. That's the sole, driving design intent behind them. We like the art, we create an agreement with the artist, we make the case. You see it. You like it. You buy it. The artist gets paid. Everyone's happy.
Our cases are printed locally in small batches. When we sell out of a certain production run, we're sold out. Which means you'll always see something new and different.
And with a selection of art and artists that's growing by the day, we think you'll find something here that you like.
So browse around. See what we've got to offer. And if you see something you like, we'd encourage you to make the purchase. You'll end up with a case that is likely different from anything your friends are carrying around. And you'll be supporting the work of new and emerging artists.
How Our Artists Get Paid
Without going into details, we think you should know how our artists get paid.
We believe we've set up a structure that's good for the artists and good for us as a company. The opening paragraph in our contract says it best:
"Griffin Technology thinks creative design and art are cool – we're artists too. We want to give you and your work a chance to be promoted on Griffin's products and website. We also want to help fund your creative work when it is successful."
Griffin Designer Series artists earn a set amount for each case we sell bearing their artwork. If a design or series of designs proved to be popular with customers, we may select it for larger-scale distribution through our retail partners.
While we become partners and the exclusive licensors of the artwork for reproduction in the mobile electronics space, the artist retains ownership of the copyright rights of the work. For working artists, this is a big deal, because it means that they can receive compensation for their work outside the agreement they strike with us.
